The Mission of SCDI is to Empower Youth, Minorities, SENIORS and the Disadvantaged to Improve Lives.
Shiloh Community Development, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) local non-profit organization that empowers youth, minorities, seniors and the disadvantaged to improve lives. The organization’s goal is to enhance the quality of life of those less fortunate by providing transitional assistance, economical/educational opportunities, job search support, health education /prevention/wellness programs and youth mentoring. The major emphasis of SCDI is to develop and promote programs that advance minorities and youth in Health, Education and Economic Development.

Core Programming
Founded by Ruth McConnell and Stephanie White-Thorn, the Scholarship Prep Academy prepares high school students for collegiate enrollment and helps them acquire funds for college.
Created to serve minority youth, the Young Lions of Alaska Program seeks to address the alarming rate of disproportionate arrests of African American males.
Recognizing the need to increase the number of minority businesses in Alaska, SCDI’s Economic Development Committee promotes programs to advance minority businesses.
SCDI’s Health committee conducts on-going community “health discussion” sessions with a focus on health issues largely impacting the minority community (diabetes, heart disease, prostate cancer, etc.).
